Some Creating And A Winner!!

I was gifted some pink net and an idea formed in my head;

To hang on a bedroom door or a Christmas tree (apologies, I said it now). Quite pleased with how they turned out.

But this netty madeness planted the seed of an idea in Francesca's head and a while later with some off cuts of the net and a pair of last years' school socks;

She has some funky rock-chickie fingerless gloves;

*turns to hubby and says "pick a number from one to four"*

The reply is TWO so Little Blue Mouse please email me a snail mail address and I'll send you a little Daisie Davies something, just as soon as I've decided what!!

And The Winner Is......

I know, I know, I should have done this yesterday but after a bad night with little sleep, damn those baby teeth, and a ridiculously early morning, why do they still get up when there is no school, and a very exciting first proper birthday party for Nathaniel the pirate;

To celebrate his friend Amelia's third birthday;

With his little girlie chums from playgroup;

I forgot!!

So Elizabeth and I brought the boys down stairs bright and early, while a very sensible Simon and Francesca snoozed on, and she set to writing all the names out;

We cut them up and folded them and popped them in a bowl;

Elizabeth put in her hand;

And pulled out Nancy, well Nancy's name anyhoo, would have been scared if she'd really been hiding in the bowl!!!

Congratulations!! I will gather something nice for you and pop it in the post this week (just as soon as you email me your postal address).

And of course this is half term week here in the UK, the weather, after a rocky bloody cold, windy, dark, miserable start seems to be improving, some retail therapy today, I have promised the girls new sandals now the risk of frost bite is no longer with us and Hobbycraft have a sale on, would be rude not to! I am on the hunt for some yummy fabrics for a quilting project I have in mind.... watch this space...........

500!!!!

This is my 500th post and I was waiting for something terribly exciting to share with you on this special occasion but sadly nothing of great note has been happening. Bits of knitting, cleaning, baking, boobie-ing, playgrouping, parking (green place with swings, not car parking), homeworking, eating etc but nothing amazing.

We've been out in the garden;

With our little friends;

We've had walks in the woods;

With impromptu hats;

Sebastian had a snooze with some buttercups;

Then something very exciting happened;

We built a climbing wall (after nearly melting while painting the new wall and re-painting the kitchen);

And I just love the sunshine and little girls in floppy hats and gingham dresses on school mornings;

And because it's sunny and the summer is soon to be here and it's holidays next week (wooooo-hooooo) and I feel a bit happier than I have done in a while and because you have all been here reading my blatherings for what seems like an age I am going to gather together some of my goodies and give them away to one of the commenters on this post. So say hello and I'll pick someone randomly on sunday afternoon.

Thank You

A very late thank you to Kathryn over at Lazy Daisy Glass who had a fabulous giveaway on her blog of which I was the winner!! Big grin :D, look what I won;

I thought these were really quirky little items when I first saw them but I can now say they are even more amazing in the 'flesh'. I love it so much, thanks Kathryn!!

No pictures from me as the camera has died, really rather naffed off about it as I have been busy making lovely new things for the school fayre on Friday including a rather nice pirate sock monkey (he has an eye patch and everything) so I am hoping that some lovely person at school will take some pics of my stall and let me use them. If you are nearby and at a lose end on Friday afternoon it would be lovely to see you but be warned, it's a manic two hours!!

I have also been involved in a breastfeeding steering group meet up this week too but more on that on the other blog.

Anyone Want To Play?

My beautiful PIF gift arrived from the wonderful Jennyflower today :-)

Loooook;

A wonderful little felt bracelet (perfect fit by the way Jen) wrapped in the most amazing piece of fabric;

All purpley, all yummy, all perfect, thanks Jenny!!!!!

Now the deal with a PIF is that when it arrives you have to ask three more people to play, which means that the first three people to leave a comment on this post will recieve a small handmade gift from me. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe next month but certainly sometime in the next 365 days. If you would like a small something from me then leave a comment but you will then have to Pay It Forward and ask three more people to play once your gift has arrived. And don't worry if you're not one of the first three here as I am expecting a PIF from Moogsmum sometime............ so will be asking for some more players soon!

Ooooh, it's exciting!!

Today has been a playday, we collected Nathaniel's little friend Erin this morning and headed off through the rain (hasn't stopped all day) to our favourite place to play when the weather is bad. Later in the morning Amelia (N's other woman) showed up too with Mum and Grandma in tow, he was a happy boy, two small girls demanding kisses!! Then after lunch Swirly and Co turned up too! A brillaint day with funny children and great friends and look what I made while sitting and chatting;

I finished the boots last night. All the patterns I have found for baby boots are a little girlie looking. I have found a brilliant pattern but they will take me an age and I wanted something quick so I edited an Erica Knight pattern (ahem, cough cough) this is the fourth and final attempt and do you know what, I actually like this pair! If I ever get stuck for a post I'll show you the others and give you all a laugh! I may knit another pair with a double length cuff so it can be rolled down but still cover the ankle and (hopefully) stay put. The hat was done today, a little off the cuff (ooooh, get me being adventurous), slightly different from the one I made for Heather's baby but following the same principle. Can't wait to see his tiny head in it soon!

So, if you want a surprise gift (at some point) please leave a comment here and be quick about it, I'm only doing three! If you don't fancy paying it forward then don't forget to go here and pick a date for the chance to win a Daisie something.

Look Away Now If You Are Likely To Be Offended By White Flesh, Fat Bellies, Stretch Marks Or Spotty Children

And if you're still here you may just win some DaisieDavies goodies in our little giveaway type thingie.

Simon and I have been preparing the children for another home birth (fingers and everything else crossed), Nathaniel doesn't understand where the door is to my tummy or how his brother is going to come out and to be honest although he is included in our discussions and picture viewing he has no idea what is about to happen in our house. Francesca being older this time is fascinated and asks lots and lots of very relevant questions and listens, captivated to explainations. Elizabeth, on the other hand, being older is appauled that some strange woman is going to see my bits! Bless. The change between six (when Nathaniel was born) and eight is incredible. She is aware of her own body and nakedness and is highly embarrassed by the nakedness of others. She will be excited when the time comes and hopefully her blushes will be kept to a minimum. She was very helpful last time and both girls want to help this time which is really lovely.

Nathaniel got bored towards the end of this session and Elizabeth became embarrassed so they decided to hide it with some humour and did 'impressions' of a woman in labour;

Which brings me to a little giveaway. In theory our new baby boy should be arriving on or around the 15th of September. None of my babies have ever arrived on time though. Simon says he will be here on the 18th in time for a weekend of snuggles. My friend Claire has bagged the 11th, she is convinced he will break the Davies' lateness curse and arrive early. If you would like to choose a date and maybe tell us why (if there is a reason other than randomness) in a comment on this post when he arrives I will send on some small goodies to those of you who guess right.

Now I took a picutre of my huge belly (also affectionately known as the penis shot) a while ago and someone asked about my pregnant bellies of the past, think it may have been Jude but I may be wrong and to be honest I can't be bothered to check. These are photographs of photographs so I apologise for the lack of quality but to be honest you really don't want to see them in too much detail (especially if you are eating at the time)!

This is Elizabeth (outside) and Francesca (inside) some time late January 2004;

This is Elizabeth (outside) and Nathaniel (inside) June 14th 2007;

Francesca (OS) and Nathaniel (IS) June 14th 2007;

And all my babies (some in and some out) June 14th 2007;

Just look at Francesca's terrible chicken spots :-(

There will be a picture of similar matter sometime in the next few weeks with three children outside and one inside for the very last time. I can't wait :-)

So pick a date, feel lucky and keep watching to see when the youngest Master Davies makes his appearance in the world!

The Big Draw

The lines have closed, the votes have been counted and verified, please do not swear etc etc....

There were fifteen votes in all;

They were beautifully mixed by Francesca;

Nathaniel took it upon himself to choose the winning name;

And the winner is...........

Pixiedust! Please email me your postal address and some Daisie Davies goodies will be on their way to you early next week!

Don't be too disheartened, those who didn't win, as I am rapidly approaching 300 posts and by tradition I will have to have another giveaway!

Still Sick...

....and still unable to come up with good post titles :-(

Francesca at home again today but is much better and has managed to eat and not be sick, whey-hey!! Nathaniel is eating and chucking up at a mighty rate and I will be back at the doctors again tomorrow for a second opinion!!

We had an unannounced visit from a lady from FLOW (family learning something or other, wasn't really listening) that has been given money to visit children in the north of England and give them stuff to improve academic ability on entrance to primary school. Sorry, bored myself then too!! She was preaching to the converted through all the blurb; playgroups, good routine, good diet, mixing with others etc etc. All the things I usually do (and have been doing for years). But Lisa was very nice and chatty and cheered me up in the middle of a bad day full of sick! She also gave Nathaniel a huge bag of goodies (for free!!!!), some books, a jigsaw, some crayons, a drum and a maraca all in a lovely jute bag just like the ones the girls have reading books in for school, he was dead impressed, me too!! Thanks Lisa x

I did manage to do a few more cards for the box :-D;

Francesca is much in love with this one but I think it would look so much better with the 'princess' on some mirror board (it's on my shopping list);

Don't forget to leave a comment on the giveaway post, will be mixing names on Saturday morning!!

Can't Think Of A Good Post Title, Will This Do?

Firstly, ooooh, a mug!!

Secondly, my handmade goodies in the shape of this brooch and felt embellished card;

Have gone off to the lovely Lynsey to join the great cutebale giveaway.

Thirdly, here is the brooch I have been knitting on and off today inbetween taking Nathaniel's poo sample to the doctors and cleaning up sick. I so wanted to shout "It's not mine!!" when I walked in and everyone looked at me in the waiting room! Francesca has been very sick today as well, she has lay on the sofa most of the day, thumb in, eyes shut. It has been a long day and I hope that they both sleep well tonight and awake in the morning fully recovered but somehow don't think I'm that lucky!!

And lastly, and possibly most excitingly (is that even a real word?) here is a box of Daisie Davies goodies;

Packed and ready (well, when I have done some more felt cards and bracelets) to go to a real life shop!!!!! Nearly wet myself and kissed the lady yesterday! She wanted my cards and brooches and possibly knitted bead bracelets for her new crafty shop! I am going to see her next week to discuss terms and payment and stuff and I don't want to jinx it so will say no more just yet.

But my cheeks hurt from smiling!!

Don't forget to leave a comment for the giveaway!

A Whole Year?

Blimey, it would appear that Daisie Days will be a whole year old tomorrow!

That snuck up on me when I wasn't looking!

I am pleased to say that my photos seem to have improved (?) since my first post!

I will be back tomorrow to tell you about (maybe) a bloggy birthday giveaway and my terrible week of cleaning up sick (yes, again, it never ends).

Christmas Baking

Well, I was very pleased to see that my give away prize has arrived with Kelcey and that Lili looks so beautiful in my knitted clips! Happy Christmas Kelcey and Co!

The Christmas cake came out really well, slightly sunken in the middle but that suits me and Simon as we scoff the bits when I trim it flat!!

I put the marzipan on and I'm not sure if it was the lack of sleep, the coughing girl at my hip or the grumpy boy on the worktop but it looks a little slap dash to me but you can't see this layer when it's iced :-)

Iced it last night and made the Davies Family in fondant icing;

Me and Simon at the back and the children huddled together at the front. I have done this before but there were only four of us then! A variation on a theme but one that comes in handy when lacking in time and inclination!!

I also made four dozen mince pies for Simon to take to work, twelve Christmas buns to try and entice Francesca to eat something!

We are still ill. Me and Elizabeth less so now, just snotty and coughing with a sore throat, no more than a cold really. Francesca's chest is still very bad after a week of killer antibiotics and a regular inhaler. I took her back to see the doctor this morning and she now has a course of steroids to take but may need further treatment if not improved by Monday. Hope she is ok again for Christmas, it's awful when your four year old can't walk up the stairs without having to lay down and turning blue!

She is snuggling and sleeping lots which can only help;

But the 'Snotty Nose Of The Week Award' goes to Master Nathaniel Davies;

It hasn't stopped him smiling though!!

Still haven't managed to finish the hand sewing or the little bit of knitting I have been trying to do all week. Must get cracking as am delivering them this afternoon, argh!!!!

Hope everyone is well?

The Big Draw

It's a very serious business and Elizabeth used her ruler to make sure that each piece of paper was the same size in the way that only a neurotic seven year old can;

Elizabeth then photographed me writing the names onto the little squares;

Folding each piece carefully;

And in this one I seem to have fallen asleep (?);

She had lots of fun mixing the names all together and laughed so much I thought she was going to wet herself when some spilled on the floor (we did pick them up again);

We couldn't decide who was going to pick the winner so they all piled in and the first one out was Sweet Mess!! So, Kelcey, if you'll email me your postal address I can pop the little skate (and maybe something for Lili) in the post.

Blimey, that was very stressful, I may try doing it on my own next time but the pictures won't be as good me thinks!
