Tree Of Happiness!

So now for the rules:

Firstly, link to the person who gave you the award.
Post the rules on your blog.
List six things that make you happy.
Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
Let each person know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
Let the person who awarded you know when your entry is up.

A tree of happiness award I recieved a few days ago from the lovely Willow81 at That's Not My Monkey.

Now six things that make me happy....well that could change on a daily, if not hourly, basis but right now what makes me happy is;

1. Kisses from my babies.
2. Nice hot cups of peppermint tea.
3. Playing with my new Bigshot (yes, you read it right, how excited am I??? More later!)
4. Expensive chocolates left over from Christmas, yum!
5. Snuggling in bed when it's sooo cold and dark at night.
6. My Hubby's prickly weekend chin *blush*

Six more people.....

I'd love to know what is making Kelcey, Jackie, Sue, Julie, and Ethel, happy at the moment and I would like Jill to think about six things that make her happy to help her through her rough ride with a poorly baby this week.

Hopefully will be back later with pictures and stories of my adventures with my new toy!

Awards!

Firstly a big thank you to Ruth for giving me this award;

This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships!These blogs are exceedingly charming.
These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends.
They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement.
Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!
Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

I am then supposed to pass this on to eight more bloggy peeps but hang on one minute as I also got these from the lovely Pixiedust;

The Sweet Blog Award comes with condition that I come up with lots of sevens, can't guarentee sevens but here goes anyhoo........

Seven things I want to do before I die;

1. Have a full night's sleep ;-)
2. Run a little tea shop called; Daisie's (well, what else), I would make lots of cake and lots of lovely people would come from far and wide to eat it!
3. Become a grandma, but not just yet!
4. Be known the world over for my knitted lovelies (stop laughing).
5. Write a book, there is at least one in me........somewhere.
6. Celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary (very apt as today is the day Simon and I became a couple 14 years ago)!!!
7. Live by the sea.

Seven things I do now;

1. Look for headlice at least once a week with a flea comb and bright light!
2. Collect buttons and ribbons and sparkles (some of which I am sure will never be used by me but found in boxes (and boxes) and thrown away when I am dead).
3. Bite my nails until they hurt in times of stress.
4. Worry about what will happen to my children should I die.
5. Wish there were more hours in the day.
6. Sleep far too little.
7. Eat far too much (see my lack of waistline)!!

Seven things I can't do;

1. Crochet, I have tried but the skill does not reside in me :-(
2. Follow a recipe/knitting pattern/any instruction more than once.
3. Read Latin.
4. Speak Spanish.
5. Lick my elbow.
6. Wear my size 10 jeans :-(
7. Drink more than two glasses of wine without going to sleep!

Seven things I find attractive in the opposite sex;

I can't do this one as I feel that each answer should be Simon (and it is really) but if I had to trade him it would be for Morrissey or Daniel Craig or Max Beasley or Richard Hammond and I can't tell you what the seven things are that attract me to them. Just because!

Seven things I say most often;

1. "I said put your knickers on!" usually uttered and then asked and then screamed at various intervals between 7.45 am and 8.15 am on school days.
2. "Shit" (I know it's very naughty but sometimes only 'shit' will do).
3. "F***" (see above)
4. "I've had an idea!"
5. "Sorry"
6. "Just making a cake"
7. "What do you want for tea?"

Seven celebrities I admire;

Pass!

Seven of my favourite foods;

1. Marmite on toast.
2. Hot porridge.
3. Brazil nuts.
4. kiwi fruit.
5. Mushrooms in creme fresh and lemon.
6. Breakfast in bed.
7. Anything I haven't had to make for myself (or am expected to wash up after).

Seven people to join in;

We'll come back to this later.....keep you all in suspense!

Enticed By Cake

Here are two more felt brooches I made last night;

The love heart has been posted to Francesca's friend Ella who recently lost her father to cancer and the chicken is still waiting for me to find her a home.

After school Francesca was full of stories but had missed me and was a bit weepy and clingy so we went in the kitchen and made cake (it is the cure all for every illness of body or mind known to man). While the cake was cooling we made a card for Ella and did some design sketches for more brooches (am really liking making these, they are quick and easy and look fab) the girls have come up with some fabulous ideas for me. Nathaniel had mysteriously disappeared and was quiet, which is usually an indication of being up to no good. I found that he had moved the kitchen step and had climbed up to lick some more from the cake bowl as he had seen Francesca do earlier;

He was not happy when I made him get down!

And I have been given this award by the lovely Pixiedust;

I don't read a huge number of blogs and certainly can't think of seven at the moment (as I am supposed to) so I'll just say have an award if you want one. Haven't read a blog yet that I don't like on some level or other.

I Am Loved

Look what I did today;

Blimey my muscles hurt! I now have muscles on my muscles (but not a smaller waist, sadly)!! Lots and lots of bricks from upstairs and lots of bricks and concrete blocks from the shed that is no more!! My garden is looking really rather good, Simon highly impressed when he came home from work. Elizabeth hoping that it will be finished for the weekend and it looks like it just may happen........

Progress in the room is good, most of the ceiling is now in place and we will soon be ready to build the partition wall for my really big cupboard that we are referring to as the 'walk-in-wardrobe'. Just need to track down a plasterer and Robert's your mother's brother (as they say).

Look what I got from Ruth;

How nice is that!?

Here are the rules;

1. The winner can put the logo on her blog

2. Link the person you received your award from

3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs

4. Put links of those blogs on yours.

5. Leave a message on the blogs of the girls or boys you've nominated

Blogs that I love include Nancy, with her very poorly foot, Jackie who lives scarily near me, Julie because I love her 'little cotton rabbits' and her beautiful garden, Sarah because she gives so much inspiration and she has cats, Juicyfig because she is cool and her knitting model is even cooler (go have a look, everyone should have a hubby like that), Pixiedust because I really enjoy her kitchen adventures, and my pal Jenny (I know she's already got one from Ruth but why not have two, novelty earrings?).

Off to rest my bones!

An Award

A Wylde Women Award from Ruth;

Here are the rules of this award:

I would like to give this award to Jenny, I know I always pass awards on to her but she is a very special lady, she has made my day on more than one occassion. A nice email, a kind comment, a surprise package in the post. She is support and inspiration. I would love to give her a big squeezy hug but my arms are not quite so long, this will have to do for now. Thanks Jenny!

One Hundred Posts, An Award And A New Approach To Eating Soup....

First of all, this is my 100th post!! Woohoo!! Blimey I do ramble some, don't I?

In celebration of this fact I am going to give away a bundle of Daisie Davies Original Handmade Goodies. Haven't decided what yet so leave me a comment by this time next week on this post and I'll randomly choose one (ie: "Francesca, choose a number between one and ....") of you and there will be a lovely surprise coming your way courtesy of good old fashioned snail mail. Please check back next Sunday to see if you've won and then drop me an email with your home address.

More exciting news, Tip Top has given me an award because, and I quote; "Just because you make me smile and giggle when I least expect it." Glad to have been of service! And keeping that thought in mind I'd like to pass the award onto Jenny, Scary Mommy, Kelcey and Twiggy. You make me laugh, give me inspiration and an alternative look at life that I really love.

Also wanted to show you that we have found an alternative use for knitting needles;

And the new approach to eating soup was discovered by Nathaniel. The fun he had with the sweet potato soup I made for lunch today was amazing to watch. He was very hungry when we sat down to eat so ate the first half of the bowl in record time. Stopped. Did an amazingly huge burp and continued with his toast but turned away from any more soup. I took my bowl in the kitchen and tidied around while the children finished off. This is what greeted me on my return to the dining room;

He had finished the soup and licked the bowl clean!!

The look on his face has made me think that perhaps we should all eat soup in this manner?!

Looking forward to reading all the comments later!!

A Two Cat Family

Firstly, a fond farewell to Mr. Hercule Davies;

The terrible wet (smelly) poo was a sad symptom of the feline leukaemia that Hercule had, he has been unwell for a while and was a very old man at nearly 13. I took him to the vet on Thursday afternoon only to be told that he had a huge mass in his abdomen and that there really was no treatment available for him. I brought him home so that we could explain to the children and let them say goodbye. He had lots and lots of cuddles.
While the girls were at school yesterday I fed him a tin of tuna and some chocolate buttons, both favourites that usually upset his tummy. Figured it didn't matter much. Nathaniel and I took him to the vet and he came out of his box and sat on the table for a cuddle and died while I held him and whispered in his ear. Very sad indeed but less so than having to watch him become more and more ill.

We will miss him very much. His brother and sister (Vincent and Josephine) have had a look for him but don't seem overly bothered. Such is feline love!

Now, lets get to blog business; I received this award from the lovely Twiggy she passed it on to five people but being a fairly new blogger I don't have that many favourites to pass it on to. Swirly said she didn't want one as she already has this one, fine says I! Have to wait for a different one to pass to her (hint, hint)!

So I would like to give this award to;
Jenny at Jenny Flower, Ruth at Tip Top Toppers, Sharon at Iris and Lily and Scary Mommy
Thanks for all the rantings and support and inspiration ladies!!
