Awards!

Firstly a big thank you to Ruth for giving me this award;

This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships!These blogs are exceedingly charming.
These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends.
They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement.
Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!
Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

I am then supposed to pass this on to eight more bloggy peeps but hang on one minute as I also got these from the lovely Pixiedust;

The Sweet Blog Award comes with condition that I come up with lots of sevens, can't guarentee sevens but here goes anyhoo........

Seven things I want to do before I die;

1. Have a full night's sleep ;-)
2. Run a little tea shop called; Daisie's (well, what else), I would make lots of cake and lots of lovely people would come from far and wide to eat it!
3. Become a grandma, but not just yet!
4. Be known the world over for my knitted lovelies (stop laughing).
5. Write a book, there is at least one in me........somewhere.
6. Celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary (very apt as today is the day Simon and I became a couple 14 years ago)!!!
7. Live by the sea.

Seven things I do now;

1. Look for headlice at least once a week with a flea comb and bright light!
2. Collect buttons and ribbons and sparkles (some of which I am sure will never be used by me but found in boxes (and boxes) and thrown away when I am dead).
3. Bite my nails until they hurt in times of stress.
4. Worry about what will happen to my children should I die.
5. Wish there were more hours in the day.
6. Sleep far too little.
7. Eat far too much (see my lack of waistline)!!

Seven things I can't do;

1. Crochet, I have tried but the skill does not reside in me :-(
2. Follow a recipe/knitting pattern/any instruction more than once.
3. Read Latin.
4. Speak Spanish.
5. Lick my elbow.
6. Wear my size 10 jeans :-(
7. Drink more than two glasses of wine without going to sleep!

Seven things I find attractive in the opposite sex;

I can't do this one as I feel that each answer should be Simon (and it is really) but if I had to trade him it would be for Morrissey or Daniel Craig or Max Beasley or Richard Hammond and I can't tell you what the seven things are that attract me to them. Just because!

Seven things I say most often;

1. "I said put your knickers on!" usually uttered and then asked and then screamed at various intervals between 7.45 am and 8.15 am on school days.
2. "Shit" (I know it's very naughty but sometimes only 'shit' will do).
3. "F***" (see above)
4. "I've had an idea!"
5. "Sorry"
6. "Just making a cake"
7. "What do you want for tea?"

Seven celebrities I admire;

Pass!

Seven of my favourite foods;

1. Marmite on toast.
2. Hot porridge.
3. Brazil nuts.
4. kiwi fruit.
5. Mushrooms in creme fresh and lemon.
6. Breakfast in bed.
7. Anything I haven't had to make for myself (or am expected to wash up after).

Seven people to join in;

We'll come back to this later.....keep you all in suspense!

Fluff and Tag

Well, I managed to sew on the red beads to the silver fluffy flower/rosette type knitted thingie.

Then today, after a disappointing trip out for some leggings (to wear with my knitted boots and big jumper) and accidentally buying two new outfits and a stripy sweat top for Nathaniel (only came to £6.50, I love sales) I have knitted some more. I am really loving these, they are dead easy and look really professional (always good).

Here are today's creations;

Cream eye lash yarn with a huge (bigger than a £2 coin) antique mother-of-pearl button centre;

Silver fluffy yarn with red glass beads;

Chunky multi coloured autumn type colours with poundland (yes, poundland) wooden beads in orange and pink, a perfect match;

This is Nathaniel's fave (not because it's pink, although that does help), made with fluffy pink yarn and little silver bells that really jingle (you can just see then nestled in the centre);

And I have been tagged by the lovely Pixiedust over at Faerie Nuff.

1.Link to the person who tagged you.
2.Post the rules on your blog.
3.Write six random things about yourself.
4.Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5.Let each person know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6.Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

I did one of these not so long ago but not wanting to be a party pooper, I'll see if I can find six more things.......

1. I like to read in the bath, it is probably my favourite thing to do (especially when I am cold/tired/poorly/menstrual) but sadly only happens a half dozen times a year and then usually someone has to come in and poo!

2. I leave little notes for my family reminding them of my love in their pockets and lunch boxes. Simon is already truly embarrassed by it and it won't be long before the girls find it a bit naff too. I have already had the conversation with Elizabeth that "Soon I will be too big to kiss you at school, Mum" bu was reassured that she would kiss me everyday at home before we left!

3. The first present Simon bought for me was a pair of bottle green Doc Martens, they were (and still are) the only pair I ever had that was new and complete. I had had several pairs of pre-owned or seconds due to lack of monies. I loved them and they are still in a box on top of my wardrobe with holes in the soles where I wore them to death!

4.I like the smell of laundry!

5. I didn't go to primary school. Well, I did, for a term but became so ill and withdrawn that my parents removed me. My brother and I were home educated until 11 when we decided that we should go to school and make some friends (we relocated from Essex to Lancashire some years before). I still hated school and it still made me ill but I got out the other end in one piece and am here to tell the tale so it's ok really. Fortunately my children love school. They hate being parted from me for long parts of the day but they love learning and have friends and it makes me really happy for them. I often wonder if I missed something.

6. I made a very large toasted cheese and tomato sandwich that Nathaniel and I shared at lunchtime. It was very good as we were feeling cold but I now feel greasy and slightly sick!

And I would hereby like to tag Julie, Juicyfig as she has been very quiet of late, Hannah as she is a newbie and we really should know more about her, Lynn as her daughter tidies in much the same fashion as I do, Ethel so she can give us six random facts about being poorly and finally Tales From The Crib as the blog name makes me laugh out loud and the photos are brill!!

Phew!!

My Womanly Bike

Apologies for a post with no pics but have only just managed to get the Internet connected and am in need of doing far too many things to think about pictures!

Blimey, I can't believe it has been 26 months (yes, August 2006) since I last had a period! I had forgotten that awful dull ache in your back, the night cramps in your legs, the dragging pain in your lower belly (like someone removing your intestine with a crochet hook) and the feel and smell of being a woman. I am glad that everything is now in working order again. I am glad too that the swollenness of my belly (jeans not so snug today) and the terrible pain in my breasts when suckling Nathaniel that I have had for the last ten days or so are gone. Well and truly back on my womanly bike (or menstrual cycle for those of you who talk proper)!

I have been tagged by Sharon over at Iris&Lily.

1. Clothes Shop: Not fussy really, got a nice top in Sainsbury's a while ago. I like cheap and cheerful really and 'Reduced To Clear' is my favourite designer!!

2 Furniture Shop: Usually IKEA as it's cheap and cheerful and practical and folds small in the boxes so can be arrange around small children in the car with ease!

3. Sweet: I am a bit partial to chocolate, have you seen that they've brought back 'Wispa'!! But I was once a member of the chocolate tasting club and they really are the best choccies in the world!!

4. City: Not fussy really, I like to shop in Manchester and have enjoyed holidaying with my aunt in Aberdeen and spent a lot of time visiting London when I was young as my grandparents lived in Finsbury Park and everything was only a bus ride away. We used to be able to choose something for ourselves in Hamley's at Christmas time.

5. Drink: I drink two cups of beautifully ground (by my husband) coffee everyday and I live on peppermint tea (which the girls say makes me smell nice), I quite like a glass of wine and never say no to a large Jack Daniels over ice. As long as it's wet and in a cup/glass I'll drink it!

6. Music: I love Mr. Morrissey and would marry him and have his babies tomorrow (but I don't think he'd like that much), I saw him live a few years ago and nearly touched him, squeal!!!!! I am also enjoying The Killers, Robyn and (much to my husband's shame) James Blunt at the moment.

7. TV series: Is Eastenders a series? I love 'enders! I also like ER (it's rumoured that 'Doug Ross' will appear in the final episode later this year), we loved Californication in this house and most recently Mutual Friends.

8.Film: I love Dirty Dancing as a reminder of misspent weekends in front of the TV in my younger days. I love Same Time Next Year, a fabulous romantic comedy (you must see it)!

9. Workout: I try to walk everywhere unless it's really raining hard and I lug around a big baby boy, two lunch boxes, two book bags and assorted jumpers/cardigans/ coats at least twice a day, good for the muscles if not the soul.

10. Pastries: Yes please, danish ones!!!

11. Coffee : See point 5.

Blimey that was harder than I thought and I think I more than made up for the lack of photos with the enormous amount of links I added!!

I would hereby like to tag; Lynsey, Jude, and Kelcey

Tagged!

Didn't post last night as was just far too hot and tired, so was Simon (lovely man) only the ceiling left now and some horrid hard stuff to remove from the fireplace he found behind the wall, I hope it's as nice as the one we found in the girls' room!

Twiggy has tagged me, here are the rules;

1. Link to the person who “tagged” you.

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Write six random things about yourself.

4. Tag six people at the end of your post.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

Six random facts about me;

1. I have three beautiful children but would secretly (or not so secretly) like to make it four!!

2. I have a thing for stationary, especially pens! Simon and his friend Anthony often refer to me as Pauline and they're not joking!!

3. Bruce Forsyth drove the car for my Nan and Grandad's wedding when he was just a young man.

4. I knew Simon was my true soulmate when after spneding our first night together (blush) he brought me marmite toast for breakfast in bed! Our song is 'Deep' by E17 (oh the shame), never have the radio playing random songs when being rude for the first time, it may come back and haunt you!!

5. I used to nurse terminally ill nuns for a living and thoroughly enjoyed it and still didn't 'catch' God! Mum says I should write a book about working in the convent as we had some very funny moments, she likes to ply me with wine and let me ramble, we all end up with sore faces and sides from laughing so much! Maybe I'll blog a few tales some time.....

6. Both my breasts are roughly the same size.

I would like to tag and find out more about Jenny, Terri, Sharon, Lynsey, Ruth and Kelcey. Sorry if you've had this one before girls, I lose track!

NB: #6 was Simon's suggestion when I ran out of ideas, he has been obsessed by this fact since we saw a programme about breasts on TV, this woman had a B and a DD, never seen anything like it before. Apologies to anyone with differing breasts!
