Knitting And Squealing Show!!

I was up at 5.30am sipping my lemsip and blowing my nose in preparation for such an exciting trip.

I collected Gil and we made good time, jumped the queues as we already had tickets and started a mammoth knitting fest! I managed not to meet anyone from blogland, sadly, but was spotted by many of folks as I ran from one stall to the next squealing "Ooh, look at that!!" It was so brilliant!!

I spotted a knitted boat but feel very bad as I think it was a project from Leeds University but I'm not sure if that's right or if it's something I read somewhere else or just made up (baby brain again), sorry, but it was truely fabulous;

It had it's own knitted ship's cat;

A knitted anchor;

There were many knitted sea creatures; crabs, fish, octopusses but my favourite has to be this seal and her pup;

I bought some of my favourite flowers for a project just for me;

And some yummy yarn just for me too;

I also bought some clothes patterns as I have to make a costume to end all costumes as Elizabeth is The Snow Queen in the Christmas production . She is very excited as she usually ends up with a crappy part. In year one she came home and cried as she had been given the part of a reindeer and, I quote; "It's not fair 'cos I am the best reader". I have huge amounts of flowing white fabric, gems, glitter and not much time but am sure she won't be disappointed with whatever I manage to create for her.

I got lots more little things, things to make gifts with, things to give as gifts and things to admire and stroke in a non-sinister way!

One of the nicest things about the day was watching lots of older, posh looking ladies sitting around on dirty carpets in corridors eating packed lunches like students, it was fabulous, wish I'd had more balls and asked if I could have photographed them!

How was your Sunday?

A Tidy Stash :-)

Today I is been mostly folding and sorting and falling in love all over again with each and every piece of fabric in my collection. There are some pieces that are going to new homes though. Pieces that I have had for a long time and have not made use of, seems silly to keep hold of them for another year and still not use them and shhhh, Simon might be listening, I will make room for new things. Cunning or what?!

I had planned on filling one side of one wall with my fabrics and sewing box and machine (I need to make it a new cover any good tutes out there?), I did quite well with the yarn and now have one big box to keep and a carrier bag that is going to be shared around and recycled. But the fabric was harder, I spilled over onto another shelf, do you think anyone will notice?

Here are my luverly upholstery fabrics great for bags and cushions and doorstops;

On the left here are very light cottons, perfect for children's projects and on the right my plain fabrics for linings (and boring people);

My nice clean empty shelves looked a little scruffy when filled (read crammed) with all my stuff so I knocked up a couple of end curtain type thingies, gotta love sticky velcro, so when you open the door, this is what you see;

Clean and crisp and airy, at least now I won't be ditracted by all the loveliness when I am working at my desk so should stay on task. She says, this is almost an impossibility and has never happened before!!

Apologies again for lots of stash pictures but be warned there will be more!

A Tidy Stash

Here is my baby in her party clothe's on Saturday;

The chef set went down very well with Cara and a wonderful time was had by all!

As I have mentioned we are embarking on a major renovation and (I don't know about you but..) our house becomes a giant Rubik's cube where you have to move three things to make enough room to move another and the mess is always a hundred times worse before it gets better.

A perfect example of that took place today.

Here is how my paper craft corner looked this morning;

A terrible shambles but it looked worse when I moved it all onto the dining room table;

After hours of huffing and puffing (both me and Simon) carrying things up into the attic, packing things into boxes and generally making more mess, the girls wardrobe and small cupboard made their way down stairs. I filled them with all my goodies and it looked much tidier;

And it looked even better when we closed the doors;

Now all I need to do is find my piano under the mounds of stuff that has been put there on it's way to somewhere else!
