The Midnight Mad Hatter

Well, not quite midnight but you'll soon see where I'm going.....

Firstly a big thank you for all the lovely comments on yesterday's post :-)

Tonight I've been making hats for the fair (as well as putting recycling out for collection, washing dishes and paint brushes, tidying round in general and putting away clean laundry).

Sadly all children asleep so have no model, here is hat one, note the pleased expression on my face;

Pleased also at being able to take my own picture!

Hat two followed after many interuptions of the husband and feline variety, bloody hurrah;

The strawberry hat is my favourite but I have mad starey eyes;

Must go to bed before I turn into a pumpkin!!

Ellie And Friends

Thanks to the very kind donation of a book from my friend Jenny* I have made this rather cute little elephant, Ellie (well, what else could you call an elephant?);

I have been meaning to make one for ages and have a few odd bits of fabric left overs saved with making some for presents in mind. I managed to make one today as I promised a copy of the pattern to Vonnie as she was going to spend stupid money on a pattern for an elephant. Anyhoo, while Simon was doing a copy for her I made him do one for me too (along with an owl, a mouse and a dinosaur). The pattern in the book was small and you would have to copy the pattern onto larger squared paper and to be honest life is just too short!

I am very pleased with her and Francesca is in love;

I expect there to be many more elephants around here soon, if I can get the feet right (not entirely happy with these ones) I may make some for the carft fair too.

And here are my beautiful girls modelling a hat order that I finished this afternoon ready for delivery on monday;

I love these hats. They are great to make (even if I swear at the brim, everytime) and look wonderful ironed or scruched up and in any fabric. I keep meaning to make all my scraps into a huge piece of patchwork to make some hats out of, they would be very cute indeed.

* Jenny, sorry there has not been a return delivery for the books yet but am still awaiting some measurements!

Cheap Hats!

It's just been me and my boy today as the girls both do a full day at school on Friday, we miss Francesca but have fun together even if the house is a little quiet!

We played 'boo' when we changed the beds and Nathaniel thought it was very funny when I climbed into the shower to wash the tiles, so much so that he gave himself hiccups! Poor lamb with only a crazy mother as entertainment!!
We have prepared a wonderful tea and washed floors so my home is all lovely and ready for the weekend (don't forget it's Simon's official birthday tomorrow)!

While doing a bit of a shop this morning I came across something for the girls, although I feel a little bad about it. When your mother makes hats and all you get is the left over sale items from Sainsbury's you may class yourself as a neglected child, must give them the childline number later!! But at £1 each I couldn't resist the bargain and they are quite cute, what do you think?!
