A New Bag, A New Trick and A Birthday

Get me with these catchy, imaginative post titles!!

The lovely Lynsey over at Swirlyarts kindly donated some fabric to me in her marathon destash of late. Beautiful, yummy fabrics, all for me :)

One I particularly fell in love with, just my colours, just my style. I haven't done much making of late but couldn't wait to chop into this and make myself a new bag;

A messenger style with a 'lid' (as Francesca calls it) and big chunky wooden buttons (from Duttons ages ago);

Pockets inside for all the crap stuff I have to carry about;

And a little matching zippy pouch for my lip grease and tampons, so they don't get lost at the bottom under all the crap stuff;

After weeks of rain and misery the sun has been out and my littlest man has become brave (still screams like a girl when we go near a swing mind) and has learned to slide without clinging to the sides shouting for Mama to come save him;

He very sweetly sits at the top shouting 'ready, ready, goooooo'!!

The children and I made cards and a lemon cake for my MIL's 70th birthday at the weekend;

I cannot believe that she is that old, not that seventy is especially old but I find it hard to get my head round. We all went across to sing to her and eat cake! Happy Birthday Mavis!!

Hopefully some more makes coming soon, the new fabric has inspired me somewhat, thanks Lynsey!!

Sunshine!!

With a return to school came a show of sunshine that allowed a little more time outside for sliding;

And some see-sawing (with cheeky tongues);

And a mammoth bedroom cleaning session that meant clean sheets all round and clean 'special' teddies dried in the sun before bedtime.

Elizabeth's Albert the cat;

And Francesca's teddy Bo;

Today we have had sooo much rain but with some time owing from work I've had a day at home alone to clean like a mad woman, it's amazing what you can achieve with no small people about to 'help'!

Half Term Holidays

I just love the first weekend when we break up from school/nursery school/work, a truly magical time; a Sunday when you don't have to do the iroing!! I look forward to the coming days of us all being together.

This last week has been plagued with illness, first Sebastian with a three day temp of 39.7, on the first day I gave him paracetamol, plenty of cuddles and fluids and thought he'd be ok but alas, oh no, off we went to the doc's and my poor baby boy had tonsils that were meeting in the middle and weeping puss!It looked and smelt horrific, didn't put him off eating though!!

Once Sebastian's antibiotics had begun to take effect and I could put him down for a moment or two to myself I became unwell. I started just needing to go and pee far too often, mmmm, little cystitis I thought. Off to the pharmacy to get some powders, doubled fluid intake, got some cranberry etc.... Within six hours I had a raging temp, could not stand straight for the pain in my abdomen and lower back, I could only pass small amounts of urine and the blood content was high! Very scary how quickly it took over. Sorry, probably far too much information but I have never had a 'water infection' before and I can, hand-on-heart, say I have never experienced pain like it. I'm not a wuss, I have birthed four children on two paracetamol for goodness sake! Anyway I managed to contact the out of hours service in the middle of the night and a lovely local GP saw me at the crack of dawn the following morning and confirmed I had a bladder infection but he didn't think it had quite reached my kidneys. Mega antibiotics that have made me really sick but at least I can pee again!!

But inbetween all the medical drama we have enjoyed snuggly movie afternoons when the weather has been wet;

We've enjoyed fun in the sun at the park;

We found big sticks;

Composed poems;

And did butterfly impressions;

We had mini tea parties;

Swept the back garden in our sister's party heels;

Does my bum look big in this? Think I may have lost one;

Hope you all enjoyed the break too?
