I Knitted For Me!!

Well, we've had another birthday, Miss Elizabeth is 11;

I am madly knitting like a mad knitty woman for a baby due anyday and to be honest I think he will arrive before I have even got the border picked-up-and-knitted!!

I have felt very down in the dumps lately and was turned down for my dream job (after leaving the interview feeling like the job was mine) which only made me feel worse.

I was inspired by the wonderful Kath over at Juicy Fig when she worte about her knitting and I decided it was about time I broke open a ball band or two of my beautiful Freedom Spirit that has been looking at me daily since last year's Knitting and Stitching show.

It was a joy to knit, even the 633 sticthes for the frill!!

Life

Hello, thanks for all the lovely emails and messages I have had recently, I haven't disappeared! Life simply gets in the way sometimes and the urge to blog completely jumps out the window.

So a quick run down of the last few weeks.

Nathaniel had his birthday and is now a 'whole hand'.

 Elizabeth left primary school ready to become year seven at the local community college, very frightening indeed.

Work is, well, one of the reasons I haven't been around work.

Francesca has become a little social goddess and has hundreds of friends calling to play everyday. Which when it's sunny and dry is fine as they can all be outside but when the weather is wet my home looks like some kind of orphanage!!

 Sebastian is so big and funny. His latest obsession is being spiderman and will point at you with his finger outstretched, make a wet whooshy noise and say 'grab on my web Mummy'

We've just spent a glorious week in Wales, we ummed and ahhhed for a week before we were due to go because the weather has been so awful and a week in a tent in wet Wales with four children would have been no fun at all. We decided to bite the bullet and just go and I'm so glad we did. The sun was out everyday, we could see the sea from the front door of the tent, we spent late evenings on the beach paddling and exploring, we visited castles and museums and the Dr Who Experience in Cardiff.

My amazing little sister gave birth to her daughter, Megan, last monday which has made us all very happy indeed.

And there's loads more but that will do for now.

This Week.....

I made a faux suede cushion and one in linen with a flock effect pattern and I knitted a front for an old tired cushion cover;


I made two cushions for the bench in the dining room;


I knitted a ruffle scarf;


We spent a day riding steam trains;


I knitted these tiny shoes (I put them on my hand for scale) for a baby girl who is going to arrive long before she is 'cooked' and will be poorly when she gets here. I figure all girls need good shoes for battle;


The girls have suffered 'holiday' lurgy; headache, sore throat general let down and urgh. They are now much better thanks to a pyjama day!

We spent a sunny morning firing rockets into the sky at the park and swinging til we felt sick.

Cakes have been baked.

A good first half of the holidays :)

MIA

Real life is taking over at the mo, seems ages since I've been here!!

I've had a birthday and Sebastian's had a very poorly chest (again) and Francesca's had the dreaded sickie bug from school. I've been knitting for some precious babies that are on their way. We've been enjoying the sunshine and being outdoors after the long winter.

Homework this week (apart fromt he usual maths and reading books) was to create some amazing egg characters for the Easter competition at school. Last year the girls didn't take part as a bit of a protest. The entries that seem to win have sooooo much parental input it's just not fair.

Francesca made a P-egg-uin with a little fishie on a dishie;



Elizabeth made Professor Eggabeth;


The professor is fantastic and she spent ages making her hair just right but the staging is amazing, the professor has a carpeted office with a window and mirror, a desk with an egg-mac laptop, a flip chart for teaching and a detailed egg (Elizabeth's thinking was that lots of mad professors have skeletons in their studies and this professor has an egg 'skeleton');


Nathaniel saw Francesca's Club Penguin P-egg-uin and decided he would make one too. This is a surfer P-egg-uin with a little surfing puffle;



Fantastic eggcellent fun!!

Special Things

Remember a long long time ago shortly after our littlest man made his debut appearance I recieved a beautiful crocheted blanket all the way from America?

Well it's still here and still in use, when Sebastian is tired or grumpy or poorly it is one of his blankets of choice;




Even though he doesn't quite fit all of himself under it anymore;


Terri no longer blogs and I don't know if she still lurks around watching the rest of us still posting so I am off to find her email address and say another thank you and let her know she hasn't been forgotten!

Ta-Da!!!!

Very pleased with my creation, although I do think it could be a little bigger;


It's big enough to snuggle under when watching movies and big enough for Sebastian and I to cosy down for a read or a nap.

I picked up 480 stitches and it grew 8 stitches every other row, to keep the corners square (I use the word loosely), I knitted round and round until I lost the will to live and only had enough patience and energy to cast off;


I have discovered the joy of mitre squares though, so very mindless and easy and looks like you've made a real effort! I am in stash busting mode and three special people are growing babies in their bellies so am making some more but on a much smaller scale!!

I Fear I May Never Want To Make A Cupcake Again!!

My lovely friend was quoted a huge amount of money for 100 cupcakes for her wedding day. Someone, can't think who, thought it would be a good idea to make them for her as her wedding gift instead.

100 purple glittery cupcakes in die cut wrappers;


They looked amazing at the venue even though they came to blows on the way at the hands of the Groom the night before (don't look closely, some are a little squashed), I think most of the guests had consumed enough alcohol for it not to matter though!!


The beautiful couple Carrie and Adam, we wish you all happiness for the furture;


And in my panic to have enough icing for all the cupcakes (I would never have been able to get the same colour twice) I ended up with far too much and had enough for a weekend birthday cake for Francesca;
