Random Selection

"Elizabeth, pick a number between one and ten."
"Why?" She replies
"Just do it please, I'll explain in a minute,"
"I want to have five, 'cos it's in the middle."

So number five of the ten comments left on my giveaway post was left by Ruth from TipTopToppers. Send an email with your home address and some Daisie Davies Originals will be on their merry way to you soon. I say soon as I haven't decided what to send yet and may need to do some more making.

Race Day

Blimey, we didn't get rained on! Hurrah!! The sun was out (maybe a little too warm) and there was not a cloud in the sky.

Here's Francesca and I in the 'MILK' t-shirts that I managed to borrow last week from Kirsty;

On the reverse of mine is the study that shows you can halve your chance of developing breast cancer by breastfeeding your children. On the back of Francesca's it simply says; 'Breastfed and Healthy', sorry, banging on again.....

Here we are just after the start, we had danced the YMCA song several times, had a quiet time to remember the people we had all lost and a big cheer for all those we knew who had 'survived' or were still fighting cancer and stretched our ham strings. L-R Naomi, Mum, Charlotte and me;

A couple of 'action' shots now, bit scary, here are Naomi and I running towards the end (in the middle of the pic);

As we passed my Dad and Simon we collected the girls to do the home stretch with us. Here are Francesca and I nearing the finish line, Naomi and Elizabeth were ahead of us as Naomi is considerably younger than me and Elizabeth has longer legs than Francesca (that's our excuse and we're sticking to it)!

Each runner had a number to pin to their front and we were given pink squares to write on why or who we were running for. Mum's was lovely, it said "My daughters and my granddaughters so they never have to go through what I did (see front for details)" The very brave woman went out without her prosthesis in!!!

Naomi and I did it in 43 minutes, a little running, a little fast walking. Not bad for 5KM in the hot sunny sunshine!! We are going to train more next year and run the whole thing!

A thank you to everyone who sponsored me!

Will be back later with a randomly selected winner.....

Quick Reminder!

And, I forgot to say that tomorrow at around 8pm (UK time) I will be choosing someone to win some Daisie Davies goodies. Still time to leave a comment.......

Phew!

What a week it has been.

I spent Wednesday morning at Boundry Mill with my mother-in-law, not overly exciting (she bought lots and lots of things) but I did manage to buy myself a new black (surprise, surprise) top that has rather nice puff sleeves.

Thursday was our usual boobie group and I remembered to collect a 'MILK' t-shirt for tomorrow's Race For Life. Simon and I had been to a meeting at nursery school at 9am to discuss Francesca's progress and the transition to school. She's very bright and popular, but we knew that already. The staff at nursery can see no problems with the move to school at the beginning of September. We both left smiling. We know all these things about our children but there is something amazingly satisfying when others see the same and tell you so. I could become a parent/teacher's meeting junkie!! Later that evening we went to school to do all the paper work there and meet the teachers and see the classroom (we are old hands though). It was strange sitting there with Nathaniel on my lap thinking of when Francesca was just a tiny bit bigger sitting with me while we filled in all the forms for Elizabeth. I am much less scared this time. I know the teacher Francesca will have next year is marvellous and that she will flourish in her care (as Elizabeth did in Y1). And school's not so scary when you know what's coming. I think that makes it easier for Francesca too, everything is familiar to her.

Friday saw a trip into Manchester in search of a bra, I won't embarrass us all by telling you how big it was but when I emerged from the changing room with a huge white contraption all Claire could do was giggle. We both thought that if the traffic was heavy going back home we could tie it to the car as it would make such a good sail, we may even take off!! We also did lots of lovely shops but sadly bought nothing for ourselves but many many things for our beautiful daughters! There may be a trip to Blackpool next Friday just for us, yeah, like we could ever go shopping and not buy things for our babies!!

All this with an awful migraine since Tuesday afternoon which has seen me sucking bottles of water at all times, chewing paracetamol at every opportunity and with my head in the toilet more often than not!! Feeling slightly better today, I seem to have stopped chucking up (for now at least) but am feeling 'delicate' and am still in my pyjamas!!

Hope that I am fully recovered tomorrow and that me and Mum don't get rained on!!

And finally, because I don't like pictureless posts, here is my son the great engineer. He built his first 'tower' and was so very pleased with himself, especially when we all clapped and cheered!!

My Greens Are Orange!!

Just a quick one tonight as today has been far too long already and I need to get some sleep as I am shopping with the mother-in-law in the morning!!

Needed to say a very happy third birthday to Annabelle, hope you've had a lovely day sweetie!!

Well, it must truly be summer as my greens are orange and looking rather lovely!

I also wanted you to see what delight can be brought to you when you manage to steal your big sister's sugar free lolly whilst waiting for the train from London to bring your Daddy home;

Yummy, Yummy, Yum!

Well, I have been mentioned on Cuteable again today and in response to Lynsey's question, yes I probably could knit one in her size......if she chooses some yarn she likes, I'll see what I can do!

Elizabeth returned to school today after the half term break but Francesca is not back until tomorrow. So we dropped off Elizabeth and went on a bra buying mission. It was unsuccessful, sadly. We came home and dressed up (well, she did) and then as if by magic a small Snow White impersonator was in my kitchen baking biscuits;

In lots of lovely shapes, mainly hearts and butterflies. We iced them in pink (well what else) strawberry flavoured icing and added lots of sprinkles;

We took some to school with us and they went down very well indeed;

So much so that we all had another one after tea;

Anyway am off now to create some amazing Daisie items to post next week to the winner of my 100th post giveaway.

One Hundred Posts, An Award And A New Approach To Eating Soup....

First of all, this is my 100th post!! Woohoo!! Blimey I do ramble some, don't I?

In celebration of this fact I am going to give away a bundle of Daisie Davies Original Handmade Goodies. Haven't decided what yet so leave me a comment by this time next week on this post and I'll randomly choose one (ie: "Francesca, choose a number between one and ....") of you and there will be a lovely surprise coming your way courtesy of good old fashioned snail mail. Please check back next Sunday to see if you've won and then drop me an email with your home address.

More exciting news, Tip Top has given me an award because, and I quote; "Just because you make me smile and giggle when I least expect it." Glad to have been of service! And keeping that thought in mind I'd like to pass the award onto Jenny, Scary Mommy, Kelcey and Twiggy. You make me laugh, give me inspiration and an alternative look at life that I really love.

Also wanted to show you that we have found an alternative use for knitting needles;

And the new approach to eating soup was discovered by Nathaniel. The fun he had with the sweet potato soup I made for lunch today was amazing to watch. He was very hungry when we sat down to eat so ate the first half of the bowl in record time. Stopped. Did an amazingly huge burp and continued with his toast but turned away from any more soup. I took my bowl in the kitchen and tidied around while the children finished off. This is what greeted me on my return to the dining room;

He had finished the soup and licked the bowl clean!!

The look on his face has made me think that perhaps we should all eat soup in this manner?!

Looking forward to reading all the comments later!!
