How Many In A Herd?

There is more than a couple but could they be called a herd?

These three are off to the fair with me tomorrow, there is another one cut out and ready to go if I get the chance this evening (we'll see). They look very sweet from behind too;

Today I have also been making up some more headbands with my huge knitted flowers;

They are standing in a white glass, upside down, lampshade, probably no the best display solution but at least it doesn't fall over when you lift one out for a nosey!

This really huge one is my fave, it is knitted with some twisted braid like trim that I got at the scrap store a while ago, (I have some in red too);

And just to give you an idea of scale and a look at my crappy self-portrait-style photography here it is plonked on my head;

This may just end up staying on my head and not going back in the lampshade!!
So I will be under my little gazebo surrounded by washing lines full of luverly children's clothes and handbags (and loads of other stuff) at Gawthorpe Hall between 10:30 and 3:30 tomorrow. If you come and say hi please try and bring some sunshine with you as the weather forecast really doesn't look too good!

My Amazing Girl

I am refering to the bigger one but they are both amazing (and beautiful);

Tonight we have been to the presentaion event where Elizabeth was given the book she has been published in by poet Terry Caffery. It was held in a very posh new local venue, so posh it needed new toe nail polish for all and as I am limited wardrobe wise (due to huge girth) Francesca finished my simple black dress off by digging out my wedding shoes;

Admittedly they did look better when I got married as my feet weren't so swollen!!

Very impressed with Elizabeth's poem, we hadn't read it as it was submitted by her teacher at school;

There were more than 1000 entries and only forty made the book so we are very proud parents indeed, big grins all round!!
Here she is with her book, tired but happy;

It was lovely to see so many other bright, well behaved, lovely children but I must say that our three were definately the nicest :-)

Me Pretty?

A productive day today, I finished the linings in the bags I made (always put it off, worst bit), smocked two small girl dresses for the fair, machine sewed some cards made with scraps of fabric (rather yummy yet simple) and repaired a smocked dress that belongs to Swirly.

Open College course this aft (more sex, yawn) and then bath and chill after the school pick up.

Everyone went off to play while I finished cooking and set the table for tea, Elizabeth I knew was laying on her bed reading (she is seven going on 15!), Francesca was playing in her dolls house, Nathaniel I assumed would be flitting between the two getting the best of both worlds. Wrong! He had obviously been rifling through my fair stock as he came into the kitchen and asked me in his beautiful little voice if I thought he was pretty;

Is there really a market for little boys' headbands one wonders........

Rain, Snot and Handbags

I have had a very long and exhausting week.

We held Julie's funeral on Friday. It rained and rained and the weather seemed to reflect how we were all feeling. We said goodbye in a beautiful church and then buried her in the grounds and her plot over looks the reservoir. It is a lovely spot (if there can be such a thing) for the girls to go and visit her when they choose to.

I have produced more tears and snot than I thought was possible but am glad it is all over and her friends and family can begin to move into the future and take happy memories with them.

The let down of so many emotions and being hot and huge and pregnant have left me with poorliness. What I thought was a bout of hay fever on Monday and Tuesday turned into achy bones, headache and sore throat by Wednesday. Unfortunately it is too hot for my usual cold remedy; hot bath, big tracksuit, hot-chocolate and bed! I am feeling a little better now after being left in bed to just sleep yesterday morning by my very lovely husband and children.

I have a new making mojo and have made some shoulder bags for my craft fair at Gawthorpe Hall next Saturday;

Look closely at the one in the middle.......... is it pink with a black lining or black with a pink lining.......

A completely reversible bag!! Quite pleased with this one, might make some more in other colours. In reality all the shoulder bags could be turned inside out and look ok, they usually have plain coloured lining and it would mean that the pockets would be on the outside but this was easy to do with extra pockets.

Some shopping totes;

You can't really see in this pic but the cream/beige(?) coloured fabric has flowers embroidered all over it in silver thread, it looks lovely when it catches the light.

I have been knitting and making flowers on my loom, huge comedy type flowers on huge comedy clips;

I went to bed early the other night and made loads of flowers (very therapeutic and no thought required!) while watching crappy telly. I had to do something with them so attached to plain sliver hair bands;

The girls love them and I think they will look wonderful in a pot on my stall surrounded by all the little sleepie clips I already have.

Anyhoo, off for a walk in the sunshine while the washing finishes and then can hang it out, anyone else get major wahingitis when the sun shines?

Thank You

Thanks for all the lovely comments and cyber hugs on my last post. It's comforting to know how many people are thinking of me. A long week ahead and a funeral on Friday now. Am crying less but my heart still weighs a ton and I feel very lucky and very guilty at the same time.

Hopefully I will be kept busy tomorrow and my glum face and swollen eyes won't put punters off my goodies at Guy's Thatched Hamlet, Canmalside, Bilsborrow, Nr. Garstang PR3 0RS. We are there from 10 til 4 so if you're near come along and say hello. It sounds like it will be quite an event and the Tweenies are even supposed to be making an appearance!

Julie

I have been neglecting my blog because of general pregnantness and preparations for up and coming fairs.

And now I am having a rest to mourn the loss of my very dear friend who lost her brave fight with leukaemia on Tuesday night. I feel pain for her lovely husband and cannot put into words how sorry I am for her two beautiful daughters.

Am angry, shit seems to happen to the very nicest, most undeserving people.

Goodbye Julie. xxx

Do You Like My New Banner?

Hello, only a quickie for now, I have two small boys today (Li-Bau is having a day with us) and although I daren't really mention it, all is well, no fallings out as yet.

My lovely friend has helped me create a banner for my shops. I don't do computer speak and have been trying to figure it out for an age. You can see it here and here. I think you can tell it's been made by a man but I really love the purple daisies!!

Have a happy Friday!
